John L. Wills - NREMT-P, CEO, President
Chairman of the Board and Majority Stock Holder, Mr. Wills has been a paramedic since 1981 and is certified in ACLS, PALS, BTLS, PEPP, CPR, EVOC licensed and is a Hazmat Specialist. Mr. Wills holds a DOT FAA certificate as a Private Pilot, is a commercial rated Helicopter Pilot and recently completed his Multi-Engine/Instrument Rating. Mr. Wills is certified as an open water scuba diver. Mr. Wills is a member of York’s Lodge 211 as a Mason, the Walker County Shriners, the Zamora Temple in Birmingham, and is a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. In 2005 John Wills was presented with the BREMSS Pioneer Award in Honor of John Wills as a Visionary Leader and support of EMS over the years.
Phillip Windham - NREMT-P, Vice President
Windham joined Regional Paramedical Services in 1987 and was named Vice President in 1990 where he currently serves in that position. Mr. Windham is certified ACLS, BTLS, PALS, PEPP and EVOC, CPR Instructor, Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) certified police officer. In addition to his vast business experience, Mr. Windham has an extensive public safety record in both law enforcement and EMS. He serves as a Police Officer with Bevill State Community College, a Deputy for Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Winston County Sheriff's Department Tactical Team, a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years with Curry Fire & Rescue Service, a Mason with York’s Lodge 211, and a Walker County Shriner.
David Waid - NREMT-P, Chief Operations Officer
Mr. Waid joined Regional Paramedical Services in July 1987. Mr. Waid currently serves as Director of Operations. Mr. Waid has been a paramedic since 1984 and is certified ACLS, PALS, BTLS, PEPP, CPR, EVOC instructor, and a Hazmat Specialist. Mr. Waid has been the fire chief in Sumiton since 1992, an instructor at Bevill State Community College, a certified Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) certified police officer and a Tactical Medic for the Winston County Sheriff's Office.
Lee Wills - NREMT-P, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Wills joined Regional Paramedical Services in September 1997. Mr. Wills has served as a Paramedic, Relief Supervisor, and a Full Time Supervisor. Lee Wills was named Operations Manager in January 2008 and currently serving as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Wills currently holds the following certifications. Nationally Registered Paramedic, ACLS, BTLS and PEPP Provider, CPR/BLS Instructor, EVOC and PEPP Provider.
Beth Gillott - Director of Administration
Ms. Gillott joined Regional Paramedical Services in September 2006 as an Insurance Specialist and later transitioned over to the Accounting Department and Human Resources. In August 2011, Ms. Gillot was named HR Manager for the company and was promoted to Director of Administration in June of 2013 where she currently serves. She holds certifications in Human Resources, Financial Consultation and Model Netics Management, as well as Grief and Trauma Counseling, Stress management in EMS, and Behavioral Management. Ms. Gillott enjoys furthering her education, staying up to date on current EMS trends related to her certifications, spending time with her family and friends, and relaxing days on the beach.
Jeffrey D. Kerby, M.D., Ph.D. - Medical Director
Dr. Kerby joined Regional Paramedical Services in 2008 as company Medical Director. Dr. Kerby received his B.A. and M.D. in May of 1989 from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He later graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in August of 1997 with his Ph.D. Dr Kerby has an extensive military background with the United States Air Force where he has served as 2nd Lieutenant, Captain, Major and Lieutenant Col. Dr. Kerby has served on many councils, committees and boards. He has received the Argus Society Award - Best Teaching Resident in Surgery in 1997, the Joint Service Achievement Medal - United States Air Force in 2003, and the R. Floyd Yarbrough Award for Leadership in EMS Systems Development - Birmingham Regional EMS System in 2007.
Eric Pendley - NREMT-P, Director of Operations
Mr. Pendley joined Regional Paramedical Services in December 1995. He is married to Jenny Pendley, a 7th grade reading teacher at West Point Middle School in Cullman County. They have two children, Molly who 11 years old and Tucker Brack who is 6 years old. Mr. Pendley currently serves as the North District Operations Manager. His is a 1991 Graduate of Curry High School in Walker County. He attended Jacksonville State University and graduated from Bevill State Community College in 1996. Mr. Pendley is an instructor of ACLS and BLS and is current in PEPP and EVOC. He serves as Chariman of the EMS Council for Walker County and an active member at Temple Baptist Church in Cullman County.
Kyle McDonnell - Deputy Director of Operations
Mr. McDonnell joined Regional Paramedical Services in November 1994. Mr. McDonnell currently serves as the South District Manager for the company. Mr. McDonnell has been a paramedic since 1992, is current as instructor for CPR, ACLS, PEPP, and BTLS, a credentialing coordinator, WMD and EMS Program Instructor with Jefferson State Community College in Shelby County. Mr. McDonnell also serves as Chief Deputy Coroner for Shelby County.
John Morrow - NREMT-P, Director of Purchasing and Loss Prevention, Director of Safety and Education
Mr. Morrow joined Regional Paramedical Services in April 2003 and currently serves as the Director of Purchasing and Loss Prevention for the company. He is a Nationally Registered Paramedic and is a current instructor in BLS, ACLS, PALS and Fire Instructor I & II. Mr. Morrow is also serves as a Lieutenant for the City of Homewood and a board member for Herzing College. Mr. Morrow has served as a flight medic for LifeSaver, a CTC and EMS Program Coordinator for Bevill State Community College (BSCC). He has also served as a Tactical Medic and a reserve officer for the BSCC Campus Police Department.
Lisa Thrasher - Financial Controller
Mrs. Thrasher has been with RPS since May, 2009. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and over 20 years of experience in corporate accounting. She previously worked for various medical groups prior to joining RPS. She is responsible for all financial matters; including financial reporting, budgeting, statistical data, cash flows, and overseeing accounts payable. Mrs. Thrasher lives in Sumiton along with her husband of 31 years, a teenage daughter, and 2 pups. Lisa and her family are members of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where she serves as the Financial Secretary. They also enjoy spending time with extended family at their place on Smith Lake in Arley.
Nathan Gann - NREMT-B, Director of Communications and BLS
Mr. Gann joined Regional Paramedical Services in February 2006 where he served as an EMT-B. He later transitioned over into the Communications Department where he was promoted to a Dispatch Supervisor. In November 2012 he was named IT Manager and also served as a Dispatch Training Coordinator and Purchasing Assistant for the company. Mr. Gann has served as a member of the McCollum-Midway Volunteer Fire Department where he held the offices of Captain and sat on the Board of Directors. Mr. Gann currently serves as Chairman of the Walker County Local Emergency Planning Committee, is a Nationally Registered EMT-Basic, EMD and BLS/CPR Instructor, and BTLS and PEPP Provider. Mr. Gann enjoys spending time in the outdoors as well as traveling and with his wife and two sons.
Robin Early - NREMT-P, North District Manager
Walker, Winston, Cullman, Marion and Jefferson Counties
Robin started at RPS as an EMT basic in 2006. She also became a licensed paramedic the same year. She received FTO title in 2008 and became a fill in supervisor. She moved to Operations Supervisor in 2011, and also received the BREMSS EMT of the Year award. She became Operations Manager in 2014 of Walker and Cullman counties, later also became operations manager for Winston County in 2015. In 2017, Robin became the North District Manager which includes Walker, Winston, Cullman, Marion and Jefferson counties of operations. She serves as Vice President of the Walker County EMS council. Robin is ACLS, ITLS, CPR, EVOC, PALS certified, Registry and State licensed. She is married to Jeff Early who is also a Paramedic/Firefighter and they have 3 Children, Hayden, Houston and Emmylou.
Chris Key - NREMT-P, South District Manager
Chilton, South Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair and Talladega Counties
Mr. Key joined Regional Paramedical Services in January 1999. Mr. Key has served as a Paramedic, Relief Supervisor, and a Full Time Supervisor. Chris Key was named Operations Manager in 2005 and currently serves in that position. Mr. Key is a Nationally Registered Paramedic and certified instructor in ACLS, ITLS, PEPP, CPR/BLS and EVOC. He is a Certified Volunteer Firefighter with Firefighter II and HazMat A&O. He is a certified Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) police officer and a Tactical Medic for the Moody Police Department; an FAA Licensed Pilot and member and past Master of Moody Masonic Lodge No. 592. Mr. Key is currently a member of Zamora Shriners in Irondale, AL.
Tim Brown - NREMT-P, Operations Manager
Tim started with RPS as a Paramedic in 2014 after working for several other services in the state. He received FTO status and fill in Supervisor in 2015 and then Operations Supervisor in 2016. Later, in 2017, he was named Lead Operations Supervisor. Tim was appointed Operations Manager of Winston County in 2018 and currently serves in that position. Tim is a Nationally Registered and State licensed Paramedic, certified in ACLS, PALS, ITLS, BCLS, EVOC. He is also a certified instructor in EMS and Fire, ACLS, PALS, EVOC, BCLS. Tim serves his community as a Volunteer Fire Chief in Tuscaloosa County, a firefighter with Fayette Fire Department, and an instructor for the Alabama Fire College. Tim enjoys spending time with his wife and son camping, fishing, and hunting.
Chris Pollard - NREMT-P, Operations Manager
Mr. Pollard joined Regional Paramedical Services in September of 1991 in Marion County and currently serves as the Operations Manager for Marion and Winston Counties. Mr. Pollard is a Nationally Registered Paramedic and registered in Alabama and Mississippi. He is certified in BCLS, EVOC, NAPD, ACLS, PHTLS, PALS and NRP. Mr. Pollard has worked at numerous ambulance services and hospitals in both Alabama and Mississippi and is currently employed as a Flight Paramedic with a aeromedical service in Mississippi. He has five children and a wonderful wife. Mr. Pollard enjoys spending time with his family as well as hunting, fishing and Alabama Athletics.
Cameron Padbury - NREMT-P, Operations Manager
Chilton and Shelby Counties
Mr. Padbury joined RPS in April of 1997 as an Intermediate. He has been a paramedic since 1998. He has served as a dispatcher, staff EMT Intermediate, staff Paramedic, Dispatch Supervisor, Dispatch Controller, Operations Supervisor, Lead Supervisor in Walker County, and was promoted to operations manager for Hoover, Shelby County and Chilton County in 2017. He is currently an instructor in CPR, EVOC, ACLS, and PALS. He was a volunteer fireman for several years in Walker County where he lives, and currently volunteers with a dive team in Winston County. He was awarded the BREMSS EMT of the year award, the VFW EMT of the year award at the local, state, and national levels in 2016.
Sandy Key - NREMT-P, Operations Manager
Ms. Key joined Regional Paramedical Services in April 2004. Ms. Key has served as an EMT-Basic, Paramedic, Field Training Office, Relief Supervisor and Full Time Supervisor in Walker, St. Clair, Shelby, Hoover, and Jefferson County Divisions. Ms. Key currently is the Operations Manager for Jefferson County in which she was named in 2017. Ms. Key holds the following certifications National Registered Paramedic, ACLS, ITLS, CPR, BTLS, EVOC, Haz-Mat A&O, and PALS, certified.
Tim Sartin - NREMT-P, Operations Manager
Talladega and St. Clair Counties
Mr. Sartin joined Regional Paramedical Service in 2015. He has served as a paramedic, field training officer, supervisor, and is currently the operations manager for St. Clair and Talladega counties. Mr. Sartin went to EMT and EMT Intermediate School at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville. He later attended Paramedic at Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham. Mr. Sartin is currently finishing his Bachelor degree in Emergency Management and Public Safety and plan to have his masters finished by the end of next year. He is currently an Instructor in ACLS, PALS, BLS, ITLS and EVOC. Mr. Sartin is also an adjunct instructor for Bevel State College. Mr. Sartin is a reserve deputy with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office. He is also a very active member of LifePointe Church of God. He is married to Alana Sartin and has two beautiful girls. He is a very family orientated person assisting with several community functions. He is a very dedicated to improving the work culture and education of current and future emergency service responders.
Steven Blackmon - NREMT-P, Operations Manager
Walker and Cullman Counties
Steven currently serves as the Operations Manager for Walker and Cullman counties. He joined the RPS team in the summer of 2010 as an EMT-Basic. He graduated the Bevill State EMS program in May of 2011 and was made a Field Training Officer/Relief Supervisor shortly after. Steven was awarded BREMSS EMT of the Year in 2012 and was promoted to Operations Supervisor in October of 2015 were he served until being promoted to Operations Manager in February of 2018. He holds several EMS and Fire certifications, has served as a Volunteer Fire Fighter for 17 years, and also works as a Flight Paramedic for Regional Air Medical Services.
Andrew Fike - IT Manager
Andrew is a veteran of the U.S. Army who joined RPS is 2017. Since joining RPS, Andrew was promoted to Information Technology Manager. He holds a Master of Science in Information Technology (MIS). Andrew is happily married to his wife Anna and they have two children Aubrey and Abel. Andrew has the following certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, and Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching, MCSA: Windows Server 2016, and CompTIA Server+.
Justin Patton - Communications Manager
Mr. Patton joined Regional Paramedical Services in January 2005. Mr. Patton currently serves as the Communications Manager for both Regional Paramedical Services and Regional Air-Medical services. Mr. Patton has been a Registered Nurse since 2013 and also serves Regional Paramedical Services as their coordinator for dialysis evaluations and approvals. Mr. Patton is a certified BLS, First Aid, and CPR instructor; and is has certifications in EMD, EVOC, ACLS, and PALS.
Wayne Abbott - Director of Maintenance
Mr. Abbott joined Regional Paramedical Services in August 1999 as an automotive mechanic and was later promoted to Shop Supervisor, he now serves as the company's Maintenance Director. He is currently certified on 6.0 and 7.3 Diesel Engines, NGS and IDS Diagnostic Software, and Maintenance for Stryker stair chairs and stretchers. Mr. Abbott currently serves as Youth Director for Providence Baptist Church where his family are members. He is a loving husband and father of four beautiful children, whom he loves spending time with.
Charles King - Marketing Manager
Mr. King joined Regional Paramedical Services in February 2012. Before joining Regional Paramedical Services Mr. King spent 12 Years as Operations Manager at Rural/Metro Ambulance. He also Spent 7 Years as Marketing Manager at American Medical Response. He also Spent 16 Years working at Hanks Ambulance Service. There he worked his way up from Fueling Ambulance to Dispatch to Supervisor to General Manager. He is also holds office as the President of the Bessemer Elks Lodge #712 Bessemer, Alabama, Board Member of the Bessemer Library Foundation, Board Member of the Bessemer Chamber of Commerce and Board Member of Save the Youth Bessemer. In the past, Mr. King has served as a Board Member of the Legacy YMCA and Chairman of the Bessemer Chamber of Commerce.
Karla Calloway - Manager of Human Resources
Mrs. Calloway joined Regional Paramedical Services in March 2017 as an Insurance Specialist, with 16 years experience in Patient Access, Scheduling, and Insurance Billing of which she also served as a Financial Counselor and Emergency Room Supervisor for many years. In October 2017 she was named Manager of Human Resources. She is married to Jerry Calloway, they have 4 children and 2 grandchildren, she enjoys going to the races, shopping and spending time with family and friends.
Whitney Smothers - Billing Manager
Mrs. Smothers joined Regional Paramedical Services in July 2015 as an part time insurance specialist with an extensive knowledge of medical billing and coding – Mrs. Smothers over the course of her time at RPS quickly transitioned into a full time employee. Her work ethic and attitude allowed her to grow quickly within the company from a supervisor duty into the management field. She currently serves as the Billing Manager for Regional Paramedical Services, she works alongside the Director of Administration as well as the CFO and Controller. Mrs. Smothers volunteers her time with her local volunteer fire department and is dedicated to serving her community. Mrs. Smothers furthers her education staying up to date on current EMS trends related to her profession, she also enjoys spending time with her family.
